Kooza

I was lucky enough to grab tickets to Kooza in Atlanta at Atlantic Station. I had a great time. We started off with dinner at Copelands Cheesecake Factory which was ok. The service made up for the rediculous wait time in the lobby. As we finished dinner we headed over to the Grand Chapiteau. We really had no idea what we were in for! I have seen several shows Live and on DVD. I will say that everyone of them out does the previous one. By far I will have to say that Kooza does take the cake.

From the website here is what Kooza is about:

” KOOZA tells the story of The Innocent, a melancholy loner in search of his place in the world.

KOOZA is a return to the origins of
Cirque du Soleil: It combines two circus traditions – acrobatic performance and the art of clowning. The show highlights the physical demands of human performance in all its splendor and fragility, presented in a colorful mélange that emphasizes bold slapstick humor.

The Innocent’s journey brings him into contact with a panoply of comic characters such as the King, the Trickster, the Pickpocket, and the Obnoxious Tourist and his Bad Dog.

Between strength and fragility, laughter and smiles, turmoil and harmony, KOOZA explores themes of fear, identity, recognition and power. The show is set in an electrifying and exotic visual world full of surprises, thrills, chills, audacity and total involvement. “

While you go to a cirque show you have to wonder … ’ will cirque ever be able to top what they did last time? ‘  From the time that they start to the time that they finish you are left with a jaw dropping and heartfelt experience that lifts your heart soul and spirits. Cirque never fails to impress.  Here are some pictures that I found online of the show.

Yes… Contortionists. They were incredible but it got a little crazy when one girl did something and the only way I can describe it is that …. she laid on her chest and brought her legs up over her head and walked around her own body.

Here is the Jokester. Played a great part and was very engaging throughout the performance. I have always wished to be part of Cirque Du Soleil and become one of the actors or clowns. With about 25 years experience on stage (10 of that being pantomime) I sometimes regret never auditioning.

Ah, Yes… the wheel of death. * GASP *  I think this one was my favorite out of all the acts. I mean … can we say daredevilish? Kudos guys. Kudos. My hands had never be so wet from all the sweat pouring out of my hands because I was so nervous for the performers.  This one truly left you on the edge of your seat.

One incredible highwire act. Lets just say that there was almost an accident and I am pretty sure that wasnt done on purpose.

An incredible Solo Trapeeze act that was phenominal.

Yes he is on Stilts.

A pas du deux is one thing but when you do it on a Unicycle… WHOA. At first I wasnt so impressed but as soon as things became more technical I was amazed and facinated at the performance.

Now this guy. This guy was awesome. He balanced himself on like 15 chairs I think. Impressive and incredible. Incredible shape too. This guy was CUT! I mean he had muscles on his muscles. I think he was asian. I will look like that some day. LOL. Some day.

Overall I had a great time. Part of me sat in the performance and was just in awe of the cast and the talent that came from the stage. I had always dreamed of being an actor with cirque. Like a clown or whatever. I sort of miss the days when I was on stage.

I dont think I have EVER laughed so hard at the clowns and was so impressed with Cirque Du Soleil.

If you can see it in YOUR city…. GO! Don’t wait!!  I wouldn’t mind seeing it again.

Great job!!!
